Introduction
Take any adjective in the English language, add the superlative suffix “-est” and you will probably find it in Dubai. Whether it is the biggest (shopping mall), tallest (building) or largest (aquarium), Dubai believes that if you’re doing something, you may as well do it properly.

Growing from a simple trading port on the Persian Gulf to the hyper-modern marvel it is today in just 50 years, Dubai made its name as a playground for the rich and famous. But amid the sand dunes and gleaming towers it offers a wealth of experiences for everyone, including kids and families.

You can spend your time skiing down an indoor piste while it’s blazing sunshine outside or down sand dunes by night. Or try shopping at the cavernous Emirates Mall, eating at Michelin-starred chefs’ Middle Eastern outposts or shopping for gold in Deira souk. In the evenings, the bars of downtown Dubai come alive with beautiful people from across the world converging on this futuristic desert town. No matter what your preferences, Dubai has it and it has the best of it. Our guide tells you where to find it.
